Support Guide: ROLdoûr Assembly and Fitting Guide

Assembling the door

The door will not be assembled when it arrives, you will need to assemble it prior to fitting.

(If you have purchased a Pre Made Size ROLdour and plan to reduce the width, please refer to our Step-by-Step Guide: Cutting down the pre-made ROLdoûr width before reverting back to this fitting guide) - Click here

Firstly, start with removing the door from the outer box and unpackaging all of the individual parts.

Lay them out across a clean, smooth surface (preferably on a sheet or thin blanket to protect from scratching the frame) ensuring that all of the door will be able to be laid flat once assembled.

Start by determining the cartridge side of the door and the door stop sides and lay them parallel to each other.

You will then see the top and bottom tracks, one side of each track has a completely straight edge and the other side will have a 45 degree cut out. (it is very important to slot the 45 degree track side into the cartridge end and the straight side to the door stop)

Insert the top and bottom tracks and ensure that the cartridge has been fully inserted into the frame and that the fabric hem is running between the top and bottom tracks.

Slide the handle section across to fully close and open the door a few times to ensure that it is all operating smoothly, this will determine whether the door has been assembled correctly and will also ensure that the door is operating correctly before you install it.

Please note - if the door is not operating correctly, please get in touch with us immediately to prevent damage to the fabric and its hem

Please bear in mind that as the door has not yet been installed, the fabric door screen may pucker slightly in one corner or not close fully on one end against the door stop as the frame will not be completely straight and parallel but this will not happen once installed.

How to remove the cartridge before installing the door

  • Lay the door flat with the protruding part of the cartridge facing up
  • Start by removing the small u-clips from the top and bottom part of the handle section and place them somewhere safe

  • Separate the 2 parts of the handle section - This will enable you to remove one section of the handle the fabric is attached too when the cartridge is taken out

  • Place your fingers under the cartridge on each side and pull gently in an upwards motion towards you to release the cartridge from the frame.

  • Flip the cartridge section over the back once released

  • Whilst holding the cartridge section, take the handle section and slide it out of the tracks until it is completely free.

  • Slide the handle and fabric completely into the cartridge and set aside for later after the frame has been installed.

Before you start fitting the door

Recall your chosen fitting style:

  • Recessed between opening, or
  • Inside overlap behind opening

Dry‑fit components first where possible.

Tools you’ll need

  • Clamps
  • Bonding adhesive or 3M tape
  • Clear silicone
  • Pencil
  • Spirit level

Step 1: Prepare the opening

  • Check the opening is square and level as much as possible.
  • If you’re fitting into timber, plan how any water will drain into the shower tray.

For a recess fit - Apply bonding adhesive all around the sides and top of the ROLdoûr frame, (not the bottom as this should be raised up) then clamp it in place.

Make sure the door stop and cartridge are fixed level and parallel.

If they’re misaligned (for example, the door stop sits lower than the cartridge), the screen can crease at the corner.

For an inside overlap - Apply bonding adhesive to the face of the ROLdoûr frame behind the cartridge, and along the full length of the door stop, top and bottom tracks, then clamp it in place.

Again, ensure the door stop and cartridge are level and parallel. Misalignment can cause the screen to crease at the corner.

Top tip: Mark level lines (top and bottom, or at the corners) at the exact height of your door. This helps you position the frame accurately while bonding.

Step 2: Fit the bottom track correctly (critical)

  • Position the bottom track so water can drain properly.
  • Do not install the track below the shower tray, as this will stop water draining correctly.

Helpful reminder: water barrier upstand

  • Fit a 30–35mm lip/upstand in front of the bottom track. This helps prevent water leaking out from the front of the track.
  • If you haven’t created a water barrier as recommended, apply clear silicone to the bottom corner joints during frame assembly to reduce the risk of leaks.

Drainage (campervan shower installs)

  • Drill drainage holes in several locations in the lower frame where needed, so water can flow into the shower tray.
  • Add extra drainage if your shower head faces the screen, as the bottom track can fill quickly.
  • If the shower head does not face the screen, you’ll usually get less direct spray, so less drainage may be needed.
  • When testing, try to replicate real use. Spraying the screen up close can fill the track unnaturally fast and may cause overflow/leaks.
  • If fitting inside a timber frame, make sure all drainage routes lead into the shower tray.

Step 3: Seal for waterproofing

  • Apply silicone around the ROLdoûr frame (if applicable).
  • If you are not using a lip/upstand, silicone the track corners during assembly to reduce leakage risk.

Refit the cartridge

Only refit the cartridge once the bonding adhesive and silicone are fully cured/dry.

Step 4: Final checks

  • Check the door runs smoothly and remains properly aligned.
  • Confirm water is contained and drains as intended.
