Support Guide: ROLdoûr Pre‑Ordering Process (Measuring & Ordering)
What you’ll need
-
Tape measure (mm)
-
Spirit level (recommended)
-
Pencil/paper or phone notes
Decide your fitting style
Choose one of the two common fitting methods before measuring:
-
Recessed between the opening (frame sits flush inside the recess)
-
Inside overlap (behind the opening) (frame sits behind the recess walls)
Why choose a recessed fitting (between the opening) -
-
Clean, seamless look with a flush finish, frame visible from both inside and outside.
-
Improved alignment for smooth operation
-
Great for bespoke openings where you want a snug fit
Why choose an inside overlap fitting (behind the opening)
-
Better water containment (waterproof fabric overlaps the recess edges)
-
Maximises walk‑through width vs recessed install
-
Easier installation (less precise recess work)
-
More forgiving for slightly irregular/out‑of‑square openings
-
Extra barrier to water ingress when sealed correctly
-
Trade Professional preferred option.
Plan your water barrier for both Recess and inside overlap
To help keep water inside the shower area, we recommend fitting a 30–35mm lip / water barrier upstand (not included) in front of the bottom track.
Option A: 35mm lip / upstand (preferred)
-
Best if you want the frame 5mm above the tray.
-
Pros: Faster drainage; less pooling; easier cleaning access underneath; stronger barrier against leaks.
-
Considerations: Requires careful alignment.
Our recommendation: 35mm for best performance and easier cleaning.

Option B: 30mm lip / upstand
-
Best if you plan to bond the frame directly onto the shower tray.
-
Pros: Sleeker look; bottom track sits level with the tray; allows a drainage hole along the inside of the bottom track.
-
Considerations: Drain hole placement must be correct; may need more cleaning attention and water drainage may leave some water in the track.
Measure the correct dimensions
Recessed fitting (between the opening)
The measurements you provide us must be the outer edge ROLdour frame size required, not the door opening size.
Measure your opening in 3 locations for the height and width. It is best practice to measure twice to avoid any errors, particularly on the height as the height of the door cannot be cut down or reduced.

We recommend choosing the smallest size to ensure the ROLdour frame fits in the opening.
Consider the water barrier options above in your calculations
Measure the correct dimensions
inside overlap fitting (behind the opening)
The measurements you provide us must be the outer edge ROLdour frame size required, not the door opening size.
Measure the widest width and height of the opening. Because we require the ROLdour measurements you would need to consider the frame dimensions to hide the frame and leave the handle and fabric visible from the outside.
To hide the Cartridge add 60mm (wide)
To hide the Doorstop add 15mm (wide)
Typically - hide both the Doorstop and Cartridge 75mm (wide)
To move the ROLdour handle out of your opening cut out (to gain larger walk through) the handle measurement is 50mm = 15mm + 60mm + 50m = 125mm to add
Remember the doorstop can not overlap inside further than 15mm past the opening or you will lose access to the handle from the outside when the door is closed, however, the cartridge can be mounted at any distance passed the opening on the inside (min 60mm to hide)
To hide the top and bottom tracks behind the opening, measure from the shower tray to the ceiling on the inside and take that total measurement and reduce it by 10mm - This will allow you to mount the bottom track up off the shower about 5mm and then this will give you a 5mm tolerance at the top to be able to manoeuvre the door into place when fitting.
Quick reference: key frame dimensions
-
Lower track: 30mm (H) x 20mm (D)
-
Top track: 30mm (H) x 20mm (D)
-
Cartridge: 60mm (W) x 50mm (D)
-
Handle: 45mm (W)
-
Cartridge + handle combined: 105mm from outside edge to inside the frame
- End frame door stop: 15mm (W) x 20mm (D)

Measure in millimetres (mm)
-
We can build to any mm height or width (custom made option only, pre-made will be a set size height and you can reduce the width by cutting down the top and bottom tracks)
-
Measure twice to confirm accuracy.
Important sizing rules
-
Width can be trimmed after purchase (if needed).
-
Height cannot be adjusted after ordering.
How to place your order
-
Go to the listing on our website (either custom made or pre-made)
-
Enter your exact height and width (mm) in the text boxes (custom made doors only as pre-made are set sizes only and there will be no text boxes to type in the height and width)
-
Choose your frame colour
-
Choose your fabric colour
-
Click on “add to cart”
-
Select the correct delivery option dependant on how many doors you are ordering at once
-
Proceed to the checkout section and select your preferred payment method
-
Once the payment has been completed, you will receive an email with an order confirmation
