WINdoûr Blind – Step-by-Step Assembly, Fitting & Cleaning Guide

WINdoûr Blind – Step-by-Step Assembly, Fitting & Cleaning Guide

Before you start

  • Your WINdoûr blind arrives part-assembled.
  • Work on a clean, dry, flat surface to avoid scratching the frame.
  • Check whether you have a Single WINdoûr (1 cartridge) or a DUO WINdoûr (2 cartridges: blind + net).

1) Assemble the WINdoûr

  • Unpack all parts and lay them out.
  • Identify the cartridge unit(s) (these are the parts that the fabric blind and/or net are fitted into).
  • Locate the two loose tracks.
  • Slot the two tracks into the cartridge sides of the frame until fully seated.
  • You should now have a fully assembled WINdoûr blind.

2) (Optional) Re-tension the strings for vertical operation

If you are fitting the WINdoûr to operate vertically (sliding up and down), you may need to increase string tension so the blind doesn’t drop or slam closed.

WINdoûr Single cartridge (1 cartridge)

  • Place the blind on a flat surface in the fitting position (blind/net at the top).
  • In the bottom track, locate the two blocks with screws.
  • Loosen the screws slightly.
  • Pull the two blocks towards each other until you reach the desired tension.
  • Re-tighten the screws.

Result: the blind should hold its position and not drop down.

WINdoûr DUO cartridge (2 cartridges)

  • Pull the blind/net back slightly at the rear where it connects to the frame.
  • Locate the two screws.
  • Loosen the screws slightly.
  • Move the blocks towards each other to increase tension.
  • Re-tighten the screws.
  • Repeat the same steps on the second cartridge.

Result: both the blind and the net should stay in place without dropping.

3) Plan your fitting position (important)

Before fixing the WINdoûr in place, allow for:

  • The frame around the blind: 28mm wide x 34mm deep (each side).
  • The handle(s) when fully opened, so they don’t interfere with opening/closing your window.

4) Installing the WINdoûr (based on whether you are overlapping the window or recessing the blind)

Option A: Overlapping the window opening

  1. On all 4 corners of the frame, remove the end caps.
  • You will see a through-hole in each corner for fixing.
  • Position the WINdoûr and screw it into place.
  • Refit the end caps.

Option B: Recessed between the window opening

Choose either method below:

Method 1: Screw fixing

  • Drill fixing holes into the sides of the frame.
  • Position the WINdoûr in the recess.
  • Screw the frame securely into place.

Method 2: 3M tape fixing

  • Apply suitable 3M tape to the frame.
  • Position the WINdoûr in the recess.
  • Press firmly to secure.

Finishing (both options)

Once fitted and operating correctly:

  • Apply caulk or silicone around the outside edges of the frame.
  • This gives a neat finish and helps prevent light gaps around the frame.

5) Remove the cartridge(s) for cleaning

You can remove the cartridge(s) even when the WINdoûr is already installed.

  • Remove the end caps and set them aside.
  • On the side(s) where the cartridge(s) sit, pull the frame section back and up to release it from the magnetic seal.
  • Slide this section across towards the cartridge until they meet.
  • Tilt the cartridge and magnetic section diagonally within the frame.
  • Lift out to remove the cartridge assembly completely.

6) Refit the cartridge(s) after cleaning

  • Slot the cartridge assembly back in diagonally into the top and bottom tracks.
  • Make sure the tensioning strings are clear (not tangled or trapped).
  • Straighten the cartridge assembly into position.
  • Move the magnetic section away from the handle and back to the side frame.
  • Push to re-engage the magnet, then press down until it clicks into place.
  • Refit the end caps.
