ROLdoûr Slimline Window Blinds Measuring Guide (Single & DUO, Vertical or Horizontal Operation)

Use this guide to measure your ROLdoûr Slimline retractable blackout/privacy blind so we can make it to fit first time.

ROLdoûr Slimline is available in:

Single or DUO

Vertical operation (pulls up/down)

Horizontal slide (slides left/right)

Recessed fitting (between the window opening) or Overlap fitting (covers the opening)

Before you start

Use a steel tape measure.

Measure in millimetres (mm).

Measure twice.

If your opening isn’t perfectly square, follow the rules below (smallest vs largest) so the blind fits and covers correctly.

Cartridge note (important)

For ROLdoûr Slimline, the cartridge must face outwards. This allows the cartridge to be removed for easy cleaning and in case any issues occur with the blind.

Step 1 — Choose your operation type (vertical or horizontal)

A) Vertical operation (up/down)

You will provide overall frame width x height. The cartridge/handle position is typically at the top (or top and bottom for DUO configurations).

B) Horizontal slide (left/right)

You will provide overall frame width x height. The cartridge/handle position is typically on one side (or both sides for DUO configurations).

The measuring method is the same for both. The key difference is confirming where the cartridge(s)/handle(s) will sit and checking for obstructions in that direction.

Step 2 — Choose your fitting option

Option 1: Recessed fitting (between the window opening)

This option mounts inside the window opening for a neat, flush look.

You will measure:

Recess width (mm)

Recess height (mm)

Recess depth (mm)

You will also determine:

Operation type: Vertical or Horizontal

For horizontal slide (Single): cartridge side Left or Right

Measure the recess width

Measure the width at the top, middle, and bottom.

Use the smallest measurement (prevents the frame being too tight to fit)

Measure the recess height

Measure the height left, centre, and right.

Measure from the top of the recess down to the window sill (or the bottom surface the blind will land on).

Use the smallest measurement.

Step 3 — Check for obstructions (very important)

Make sure nothing will interfere with the blind, frame, or handle travel, such as:

Window handles

Latches

Trims

Fixtures protruding into the opening

Vertical operation: check obstructions near the top (cartridge area) and along the side tracks. Horizontal slide: check obstructions on the side the blind will slide towards (handle clearance) and along the top/bottom.

Please note: If a window handle sits inside the opening and is protruding too much, you may need the Overlap option.

Step 4 — Measure recess depth

Measure the depth available to confirm the system will fit.

Frame depth: 17mm

Cartridge depth: 45mm

Cartridge stands 28mm proud of the 17mm frame

Final check (recessed)

Confirm surfaces are solid and suitable for fixing.
Note: For a vertical install, the bottom stop/end frame creates a 15mm step — please consider accessibility and trip hazards.

Option 2: Overlap fitting (covers the opening)

This option mounts onto a flat face around the opening and overlaps the recess.

You will measure:

Overall frame width (mm)

Overall frame height (mm)

You will also determine:

Operation type: Vertical or Horizontal

Cartridge option: Cartridge only, Cartridge + handle, or Cartridge + handle + stop end frame

For horizontal slide (Single): cartridge side Left or Right

Important note about window sills (cills)

If you choose Overlap, customers must account for any window sill/cill.

The bottom of the blind/frame needs to rest on the sill/cill.

If the sill/cill sticks out or isn’t level with the mounting face, it can stop the frame sitting flat or change where the bottom can land.

If you’re unsure, send us a photo of the window area and sill/cill before ordering.

Step 1 — Confirm you have a flat fixing surface

You need a flat-to-flat surface around the opening to fix the frame securely.

Step 2 — Measure the opening (base measurement)

Measure opening width top, middle, bottom.

Measure opening height left, centre, right.

For overlap fitting, use the largest measurements (ensures full coverage).

Step 3 — Calculate overall frame width (choose one option)

Measure the largest opening width, then add of the following depending on where you want the cartridge to sit:

Vertical Operation: -

Add 57mm total to allow for the two side tracks (28.5mm each side)

Horizontal Operation: -

Single cartridge - Add 61mm total to allow for the cartridge on one side and door stop on the other (46mm wide cartridge and 15mm door stop)
DUO double cartridge - Add 92mm total to allow for the DUO cartridge system (46mm wide cartridge - one each side)

Step 4 — Calculate overall frame height (choose one option)

Measure the largest opening height, then add of the following depending on where you want the cartridge to sit:

Vertical Operation: -

Single cartridge NO WINDOW CILL - Add 61mm total to allow for the cartridge at the top and door stop on the bottom (46mm wide cartridge and 15mm door stop)
Single cartridge) WITH WINDOW CILL - Add 46mm total to allow for the cartridge at the top (door stop will rest on the window cill so no need to account for this measurement)

DUO double cartridge NO WINDOW CILL - Add 92mm total to allow for the DUO cartridge system (46mm wide cartridge - one at the top and one at the bottom)
DUO double cartridge) WITH WINDOW CILL - Add 46mm total to allow for the cartridge at the top (other cartridge will rest on the window cill so no need to account for this measurement but ensure that there will be no obstructions when the bottom cartridge is fitted)

Horizontal Operation: -

NO WINDOW CILL - Add 57mm total to allow for the top and bottom tracks (28.5mm each)
WITH WINDOW CILL - Add 28.5mm total to allow for the top track (The bottom track will rest on the window cill so no need to account for this measurement)

Step 5 — Check for obstructions

Ensure nothing will interfere with the blind or frame, including:

Handles protruding outward

Trims/lips that stop the frame sitting flat

The sill/cill (see information above)

Vertical operation: check clearances above (single slide) or above and below (DUO double slide) to ensure there is no obstructions and sufficient space to fit the blind.

Horizontal operation: check clearances on the side (single slide) or both sides (DUO double slide) to ensure there are no obstructions and sufficient space to fit the blind.
